유기농업 USDA 인증

미국 유기 인증은 미국 농무부(USDA, U.S. Department of Agriculture)의 국가 유기 인증 프로그램(NOP; National Organic Program)에 근거함. 유기농축산물, 유기가공식품은 물론, 유기 화장품, 양식 해조류, 유기 애견사료 등도 인증 기준에 적합한 경우 광범위하게 적용 가능.

미국 유기 인증 프로그램은 미국에서 판매되는 유기농 농산물에 대한 통일된 국가 표준을 개발 및 시행.

민관 협력체로서 운영되는 국가 유기 프로그램(NOP)은 농장 및 기업이 국가 유기 표준에 충족함을 제 3자 인증기관에게 증명하도록 승인함.

USDA와 공인 인증자는 표준을 준수하기 위하여 협력함. 또한 생산자의 활동 영역을 보장하고, USDA Organic의 무결성에 대한 소비자의 신뢰를 보호.

The National Organic Program (NOP) develops the rules & regulations for the production, handling, labeling, and enforcement of

all USDA organic products. This process, referred to as rulemaking, involves input from the National Organic Standards Board

(a Federal Advisory Committee made up of fifteen members of the public) and the public.

The NOP also maintains a Handbook that includes guidance, instructions, policy memos,

and other documents that communicate the organic standards.
